“Barfi” is an upcoming Indian romantic comedy film directed by Anurag Basu. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz in lead roles. It is set to release on 14 September 2012. The title was earlier credited as Khamoshi and Silence

Barfi-Story:-

Set in the 1970's in a pretty corner of India (in Darjeeling), Barfi is the story of three young people who learn that love can neither be defined nor contained by society's norms of normal and abnormal. One being Murphy as his parents call him, but everyone else calls him Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor).

He is the one around whom the story revolves. Barfi is a hearing and speech impaired boy always ready with a prank up his sleeve, he's quite the charmer, especially with the ladies in Darjeeling. Barfi is the talk of the town. He falls in love with Shruti (Ileana D'Cruz). In spite of her deep affection for Barfii, Shruti gives into societal and parental pressure to marry a 'normal' man and lead a 'normal' life.

Many years later their paths cross once again when Barfi, now in love with Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra), is on the run from the police. Barfi is desperately seeking Jhilmil, who has gone missing. Shruti realizes that Jhilmil is mentally-challenged and so makes her recognize that true love is really blind. Caught in a cat and mouse game, in the search for the girl Barfi loves, Shruti realizes that she is still in love with him. She must now choose between her happiness and his.

Ranbir Kapoorreportedly plays the role of a deaf-mute Nepali origin boy. Priyanka Chopra will play the role of girl with autism. In addition,Ileana D'Cruz will play the role of the narrator. Basu confirmed that Katrina Kaif was the first choice for the role of the narrator, but she later opted out. The film began shooting on 11 March 2011

Movie Preview : Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s 'Barfi!' looks a class apart
In the hill town of Darjeeling, a character named Murphy always has a prank up his sleeve. He can’t speak, but that doesn’t keep him from making a pass to a girl on the street, or mimic-lay his heart at the feet of a beauty (Ileana D’Cruz). She kicks it away and walks off. He follows her, sees a sparkle in her eye and knows she has a soft spot.

Barfi- Music:-

The music and background score of the film is composed by Pritam. The soundtrack album has 6 songs. A song named Ala Barfi! sung by Mohit Chauhan was released as a single track on 7th August 2012. Main kya karoon, a romantic number was released on 11th August 2012 which features Ileana D'Cruz & Ranbir Kapoor. Priyanka Chopra was supposed to sing a track for the film but her contract with Universal Musicprevents her from taking the offer.There is also one more song titled Fatafati which will not be used in the final film, but was released on YouTube on 10th September 2012, as behind-the-scenes footage. It is merely a promotional track, sung by Pritam. Some additional vocals are sung by Ranbir Kapoor himself. Fatafati also has some Bengali lyrics, penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The song isn't in the actual album either.

Barfi- Promotion:-

A 2.5 minutes official trailer was released on Youtube on 2nd July 2012 featuring all the three leading stars. Having no dialogues, portraying comedy gestures and actions, the trailer received immense praise from critics and audiences alike. The music and Priyanka's styling is very similar to 2001 French movie Amélie.

Barfi- Reception:-

The music album of Barfi ! received extremely positive reviews. Barfi was trending on Twitter on its launch day because of positive word of mouth.Lyricsmint gave the album a rating of 4/5 saying "The album is sweet, positive, lovely, mischievous and full of life", Karthik of Milliblog gave it a 200 words review saying "Much like his earlier combo with Anurag Basu in Life in a Metro, Pritam delivers a whopper, again!"    . Darshit at DunkDaft also gave a positive review saying "The hit maker is hitting the right spots again and again this year. This Barfi is absolutely high on taste that you can't resist."  Music Aloud's review called it Pritam's best soundtrack in a long time, giving it a 9/10.Gokul ofIndiBeats! gave the album a rating of 4/5 saying "Pritam has outdone himself again in the album which shows the true talent and dedication of the composer." Many users at Gomolo has also given positive feedback for Barfi Songs.
