Weekends will not be the same again, as after two stupendously successful seasons ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC 6), India’s biggest reality game show is back in all its electrifying glory to set your television screens alive starting September 7, 2012 on Sony Entertainment Television. The game show that has created history on Indian television with the iconic Amitabh Bachchan as its host is all set to delight its audiences with a brand new innings this season with ‘Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai’ as the central theme. Produced by Big Synergy Media Ltd, KBC 6 will air at the weekend slot from Friday to Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

This year's theme 'Sirf Gyaan Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai' has been creating a stir through all the promos that are on air and like every year, KBC 2012 promises to affect and change the lives of not only the contestants, but also the viewers. The Celebrated "Hot Seat" of the No. 1 show Kaun Banega Crorepati will now travel across the length and breadth of India giving the common man an opportunity to experience KBC in their city. The 'Hot Seat Aapke Shehar' was unveiled by the iconic host of the show Mr. Amitabh Bachchan in Mumbai today as part of the promotional activity for KBC.

The promotional van will travel through the following cities - Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Rohtak, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Howrah, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Nagpur and Bhopal and in each city the van activity will be on for 2 to 3 days culminating in a small event where the selected lucky participants from the city will get a simulated experience of sitting on the "Hot Seat" and answer the questions asked by Mr. Bachchan from a recorded video. The lucky winners will win attractive prizes.

KBC-6 to Replace Indian Idol 6 ....,?

Kaun Banega Crorepati 6 won't be pushing Saas Bina Sasuraal off air. There had been speculations that Sony will change the time slots of their various weekday programmes to make way for their heavy weight game show, with Saas Bina Sasuraal being the first to be axed.

That buzz got stronger when Danish Khan, Senior Vice President and Marketing Head, Sony Entertainment Television, confirmed that Kaun Banega Crorepati 6 will be aired at a prime time slot.

But now we hear that Kaun Banega Crorepati 6 won't be replacing Saas Bina Sasuraal - instead, it will replace Indian Idol 6

Yes, Amitabh Bachchan will now visit your homes on weekends instead of weekdays.

For the past five seasons, including the first two which aired on Star Plus, Kaun Banega Crorepati has always been telecast on weekdays.

This is the first time it has been slotted for the weekend. The total number of episodes will be between 60 and 90 as usual. Which means with just two episodes per week, instead of the usual four-five, Kaun Banega Crorepati 6 will have a longer run than its previous seasons.

That's more ad revenue for the channel that lost its hit show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa to Colors this year.

It also gives Sony time to come up with a show that will be strong enough to replace Kaun Banega Crorepati 6. Even the target audience of senior citizens, adults and children (not teenagers as such) will find it easier to watch the show on weekends than weeknights.

 Lifelines:-

A contestant can use a lifeline when he/she is undecided about which answer is correct. A lifeline can only be used once. The current lifelines in KBC5 are the same as KBC4

  Audience Poll: If the contestant uses this lifeline, it will result in the host repeating the question to the audience. The studio audience get 10 seconds to answer the question. Audience members use touch pads to designate what they believe the correct answer to be. After the audience have chosen their choices, the results are displayed to the contestant in percentages in bar-graph format and also shown on the monitors screens of the host and contestant, as well as the TV viewers.

  Phone a Friend: If the contestant uses this lifeline, the contestant is allowed to call one of the three pre-arranged friends, who all have to provide their phone numbers in advance. The host usually starts off by talking to the contestant's friend and introduces him/her to the viewers. After the introduction, the host hands the phone call over to the contestant who then immediately has 30 seconds to ask and hope for a reply from their friend.

  Ask an Expert: This lifeline allows the contestant to ask an expert via live face-to-face audio and video connection. The expert could be anyone from a celebrity to a previous Millionaire contestant. Ask the Expert is available throughout the game. There is no set time limit, and the contestant and expert are allowed to discuss the question.

  Double Dip: This lifeline allows the contestant to make two guesses at a question. In the 4th season this lifeline was made available after the contestant correctly answers the seventh question.In the 5th season,however,all 4 lifelines were made available from the start of the game. A second incorrect answer results in a loss and the contestant's winnings dropping back down to the last milestone achieved. This lifeline differs from others in that once the player has chosen to use this lifeline, he/she must answer the question, and cannot walk away or use any further lifelines on that question.

Former lifelines:-

  Fifty-Fifty (50/50): If the contestant uses this lifeline, the host will ask the computer to randomly remove and eliminate two of the "wrong" answers. This will leave one right answer and one wrong answer, resulting in a situation of eliminating 50% of the choices as well as having a 50% chance of getting the answer right if the contestant is in a situation of making a guess. In 2010, 50/50 was replaced by Double Dip.

  Flip the Question: The contestant earned this lifeline upon answering the fifth question. The computer replaced, at the contestant's request, one question with another of the same monetary value. Any lifelines used on the original question prior to the switching were not reinstated.
