"My brother will not run away from the law," Asaduddin Owaisi, a Member of Parliament, said. Mr Owaisi spoke to NDTV soon after he addressed a public meeting in Old Eidgah at Tandur, 150 kilometres from Hyderabad.

"We are not against Hindus. We are against the BJP and Kiran Kumar Reddy," he said. Mr Reddy is the Chief Minister of the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) withdrew support from Mr Reddy's government last year.
Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is a MIM legislator, has been booked in two first information reports for allegedly using inflammatory language against a particular community during public speeches last month. Mr Owaisi was directed to appear before the police in Adilabad district on January 7 and in Nizambad town on January 8.

Mr Owaisi says there is reason to suspect that if the MIM had not parted ways with the Congress, his brother would not have been facing a slew of charges today.

A local court here on Thursday, directed the police to investigate the complaint Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for allegedly making ‘hate speech’ while addressing a meeting at Nirmal town of Adilabad district on December 24.
Based on the complaint filed by a city-based businessman, the metropolitan magistrate has directed the Osmania University Police to investigate the complaint and file a report before it on January 28.
Kashimshetty Karunasagar, a lawyer, has also filed a similar petition against the MLA on December 28.

Karunasagar has accused the MIM leader of giving provocative speech and sought registration of a case against him under Sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds) of the IPC.
Karunasagar has alleged Owaisi of using inflammatory and derogatory words against Hindu gods.
Akbaruddin Owaisi, brother of MIM chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi, is in London at present.
