Jennifer Lawrence apologizes for missing out director in Oscars speech 

Jennifer Lawrence has apologised to her 'Silver Linings Playbook' director David O Russell and producer Harvey Weinstein for forgetting to thank them in her Best Actress Oscar acceptance speech.

The 22-year-old star was visibly nervous onstage after she tripped on her way to accept the trophy and in the ensuing embarrassment and excitement, she left out these two names.

Lawrence, however, issued a statement to properly thank her director and producer, the Entertainment Weekly reported.

"David O Russell: Thank you for the most incredible experience of my life. Thank you for your genius, for your guidance, for teaching me things about myself and nurturing me to be a better actor," she said in a statement.

Addressing Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, she said, "You championed this movie and its story from early days. Your passion and unyielding support gave this film the opportunity to thrive and touch so many people."

"Obviously it was not on purpose, I couldn't remember what I had already said and my mind went completely blank – your brain does funny things during the most overwhelming moment of your life!."

After a mutual-praise exchange that had Lawrence gushing about loving "all" of Nicholson's movies, he began to take his leave.

"You look like an old girlfriend," Nicholson told her as he walked away.

"Oh, really? Do I look like a new girlfriend?" she joked back.

"I thought about it," he said suavely.

"Oh, my God!" she said after she thought he'd left, face crashing into her hands. "Is he still here?" she asked Stephanopoulos.

"I'll be waiting!," Nicholson said, popping back into the picture with his trademark shades on.

"Oh, my God. I need a rear-view mirror!" she exclaimed.

For all of Lawrence's regular-girl realness over the course of awards-season interviews, this may have been the realest reaction audiences have seen from the 22-year-old actress — or at least the biggest.

"I was going to ask you what are you going to remember about tonight," Stephanopoulos said with a laugh.

"That!" Lawrence pronounced, smiling broadly and gesturing Jack's way with her thumb. "That!"

It was her first time meeting the screen legend, she said.

Memorabilia dealer Nate D. Sanders put the skin-tight white dance pants, winter coat and sports bra Lawrence wore in the film up for sale in the online auction that will end on Thursday.

The items are expected to fetch between $500 and $1,500 following the 22-year-old's Best Actress win on Sunday.

"She's now on the record for having an Academy Award, which definitely gives it (the items) status now," said Laura Yntema, spokeswoman for auction house Nate D. Sanders.

"The Hunger Games" star also won awards from the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild in January for her "Silver Linings Playbook" performance.

Five items, either worn by Lawrence or from her wardrobe on the film, are up for auction with starting bids at $100.

They include the custom-tailored skin-tight white pants Lawrence wore during the film's climactic ballroom dance scene with co-star Bradley Cooper.

The black, full-length double-breasted Moda International wool coat is a size six. The teal sports bra by Gap Body will be sold together with an extra-small blue Threads 4 Thought long-sleeved shirt.

The auction also has nine clothing items either worn or from the wardrobe of Cooper, and two items from the wardrobe of supporting actor Chris Tucker.

Movie studios often hand off costumes to auction houses, where even small outfits can fetch high prices from fans and collectors.

Kai Po Che! is a moving portrait of friendship, loss, forgiveness. Working from Chetan Bhagat's best-seller The 3 Mistakes of My Life, co-writer 

and director Abhishek Kapoor lovingly constructs camaraderie so deep and abiding that you know it must be splintered. Ishaan, Govind and Omi, three middle-class boys in Ahmedabad, are swept away by currents beyond their control. Great horrors unfold and yet, when the deeds are done, a sense of redemption remains.

Kai po che Movie 

The story begins with the three -Ishaan played by Sushant Singh Rajput, Govind played by Raj Kumar Yadav and Omi, played by Amit Sadh - embarking on their first business venture, a sports shop with coaching facilities. Ishaan was an aspiring cricketer but like thousands of boys in India, his talent was lost in the maze of selectors and politics. He morphs into a hot-tempered but unusually generous coach. Govind, the cautious and brainy one, keeps a strict eye on the finances - the other two call him baniya. And the loutish but unquestioningly loyal Omi, serves as the financer. He manages to routinely extract money from his uncle who is a political leader in a right-wing Hindu party. Ishaan's star pupil is a scrawny Muslim boy. We are a few months away from the Gujarat riots. You know that no good can come out of this.

Kai po che Movie Complete Review

Abhishek Kapoor's biggest accomplishment is that he and his writers have created three-full bodied characters - these boys with their towering ambitions and aching vulnerability, are people you and I know. And then, most critically, he has also found three wonderful actors who inhabit the characters wholly. Sushant, Raj Kumar and Amit become Ishaan, Govind and Omi. Their lack of stardom works in their favour (though I'm fervently hoping that post release, each one becomes a sought-after star). We believe them. We partake in their joys and struggles. Kai Po Che! is beautifully shot by Anay Goswamy but it's not glossy. You can almost feel the sweat and dust of the narrow lanes. And the icing on the cake is the song Manjha by composer Amit Trivedi (who has also sung it) and lyricist Swanand Kirkire. It has a sweet melancholy that reminded me of Kirkire's other gem, Baanwara Mann (from the 2003 film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi).

What doesn't work as well is the screenplay. There are stretches in which the film slows down enough to make you restless. In places, the narrative is jerky and not fully convincing - the boys recover from a big financial blow with little stress. I also found the Gujarati dialogue a little distracting. Kapoor's portrayal of the Gujarat riots doesn't lacerate you like Rahul Dholakia's Parzania or Nandita Das' Firaaq. This version is far more comforting and palatable. But perhaps that is not such a bad thing.

Kai Po Che! is Gujarati for "I've cut". It is used as a cry of victory in kite-flying contests. Here victory is hard-earned and tinged with tears and regret. But it's also deeply satisfying.

R Ashwin is a tall offspinner who took the soduku ball, a finger-flicked tennis-ball legbreak, from the streets of Chennai and used it effectively in international cricket on a bigger, harder cricket ball. His inspiration was Ajantha Mendis' carrom ball. Even before Mendis had played for Sri Lanka and bamboozled India's heavyweight Test line-up in one series, this 21-year-old saw him in a game in Chennai and went home convinced it could be done with a cricket ball too. In his first season of first-class cricket back then, Ashwin put his long fingers to tireless work on that variation. Soon after Mendis had became a brief phenomenon, Ashwin unleashed it in Twenty20 cricket.

That carrom ball, an arm ball just as good, his control over his offbreaks, and a sharp brain made Ashwin a quintessential limited-overs spinner. For his IPL franchise, he opened the bowling, bowled at death, came on when wickets were required, and was the Man of the Series in the 2010 Champions League played in South Africa. In fact, Ashwin is one of the rare players who actually came up through the IPL and was good enough to hold his own in bigger forms of cricket.

He had been playing the Ranji Trophy well before the IPL and the Champions League, but didn't lead the charts. His success in T20 cricket earned him a call-up to the national side. He made his international debut in Zimbabwe in 2010, went on to play a big role in the home whitewash of New Zealand, and it wasn't surprising to see him in the Indian squad for the 2011 World Cup. While India went for the experience of Harbhajan Singh in most of the games in the tournament, Ashwin replaced his childhood hero in ODIs soon after. A good show there won him a call-up for a home Test against West Indies, and he justified his selection immediately, taking nine wickets in his maiden appearance, the second-highest by an Indian debutant after Narendra Hirwani's 16, and winning the Man-of-the-Match award. By the time he finished the three-Test series, he had 22 wickets, a Test century, and the tag of leading spinner for India. He struggled in Australia, but enhanced his reputation in home conditions by taking 18 wickets in two Tests against New Zealand in 2012.

Australia's captain Michael Clarke was the beneficiary of a major reprieve in the minutes before tea as he and the debutant Moises Henriques attempted to regather the tourists' innings after R Ashwin struck telling blows on the first afternoon of the first Test in Chennai.

Clarke was given not out when Ashwin appealed vehemently for a bat-pad catch, but replays showed a clear inside edge. Seldom have India cursed the lack of DRS given their opposition to its vagaries, but they were left to gnash their teeth this time.

Batting first after Clarke showed rare glee at winning the toss on a parched surface devoid of grass, the visitors made a rapid start before stuttering twice, first when Ed Cowan's intemperate charge down the wicket was followed by the swift exit of a vulnerable Phillip Hughes, and again when Shane Watson, David Warner and Matthew Wade fell swiftly after lunch.

Clarke played with typical skill against India's array of slow bowlers, and Henriques did not look out of place at Test match level having been brought into the side as a middle-order batsman and change bowler. They will hope to go on from their starts in the evening.

Ashwin was clearly India's most accomplished performer, gaining spin, dip and bounce for his five wickets, but the rest tended to pitch too short and gave the Australians room to manoeuvre the ball around the Chidambaram Stadium. Ishant Sharma and the debutant Bhuvneshwar Kumar already appear peripheral members of the attack.

The left-arm spinner, Pragyan Ojha, was among the four players left out of the final XI. Ojha's omission was something of a surprise given his strong returns against England in the recent Test series, while he was also an accomplished performer against Australia on their last Test visit to India in 2010.

Cowan and Warner made a cheery start, swatting the ball around with ease against Bhuvneshwar and Ishant. Warner was the scratchier of the two, having batted properly in the nets for only a few days before the match due to his rehab from a fractured thumb. Twice Ashwin beat Warner outside off stump, first drawing an edge that an incredulous Virender Sehwag contrived to spill at slip, then creating a difficult stumping chance that MS Dhoni failed to complete due to the bounce extracted.

Meanwhile Cowan looked serene, so much so that he advanced to loft Harbhajan down the ground for only the second six of his 14-Test career. If that stroke showed how good Cowan was feeling, his next aggressive measure was to smack of misplaced comfort.

Trying to belt another six, he was beaten by Ashwin's greater drop and bounce, and failed to get back to his crease before Dhoni tipped the bails off. On the first morning of the series, it was hard to imagine a more wasteful exit.

Unlike Cowan, Hughes had failed to make a decent score in the warm-up, and his indecisiveness was evident in a stay that featured plenty of shuffling and ended with a horrid, half-hearted cut at Ashwin that dragged the ball onto leg stump. As so often happens in India.

We keep up with the latest PS4 Spec leaks and rumors - the latest details are based on what little details we got from the Febuary 20, 2013 announcement of the PS4 combined with information from the PS4 development kits (model# DVKT-KS000K) earlier this year. Looks like some of the media, like the piece Forbes wrote awhile back and I quote - "It's an intriguing notion, but I'm willing to bet that the PS4 will, in fact, be a new piece of hardware that will use relatively cheap modern components and then utilize cloud-computing in order to beef up the specs and capabilities of the hardware" - are turning out to be true. We must say that the PS4 is looking great for both the gamers and the developers.

PS4

First up is the PS4 CPU (Central Processing Unit) For comparison the PS3 uses a cell based processor with 1 PPE (Power processing element) @ 3.2 GHz which is dual thread i.e. capable of processing 2 streams of instructions at a time and 8 SPEs (Synergistic Processing Elements) @ 3.2GHz of which 1 is disabled for yield purposes and 1 is reserved for security purposes such as encryption and decryption of the hard drive in real time. The cell in the PS3 has an overall performance of 204 GFLOPs.

Looks like the hundreds of millions Sony had invested into the development of the Cell Processor and on building fabrication factories (of which cost over $500,000,000 each!), may all go to waste now that they have chosen to go with the X86-64 AMD "Jaguar", likely the A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU. Believe it or not this deal is actually going to save Sony a lot of money in R&D and production, making their deal with AMD a great move!

PS4 CPU Specs:
A customised version of AMD’s A8-3850. This is a specially adapted CPU which basically has an AMD HD 6550 GPU integrated which has been shrunk down to fit into a CPU. What does this mean for games exactly? Well when combined with a AMD GPU developers can utilise a technology called CrossFire which essentially means that they can put some of the graphical tasks onto the GPU built into the CPU allowing the main GPU to do more tasks.

The AMD A8-3850 is a quad core CPU which has its 4 core clocked at 2.9 Ghz however this can easily be changed by Sony if they upgrade the cooling system which we can imagine since they’ll make it as small as possible. This APU as they call it is already more powerful than the current generation of consoles. And since it isn’t a PowerPC processor developers won’t have as much of a hard time developing for it then they currently do.

PS4 CPU Specs Update: November 8th, 2012
Leaked development kit specs place the CPU as the AMD A10, which features many of the same specifications as the A8 but with slightly more power behind it. The exact statistics of the A10 in the PS4 are not known, however it is safe to say that whatever the specifications of the A10 are it will be a slightly faster APU than the A8, most likely in clock speed. We will update this article when more information is known.

Second up is the PS4 GPU (Graphical Processing Unit)
Now we know for sure that Sony is going with an AMD's 1.84 TFLOPS, next-generation "Radeon" based graphics engine. Looks like Sony will stick with Nvidia and continue their good relationship - the Developer console uses an AMD GPU so things are starting to look real good for Nvidia. The PS4 will need to be able to support 1080p 3D @ 60 FPS per eye so it has to have enough VRAM, which will likely be anywhere between 1-3GB.

PS4 GPU Specs:
An AMD R10xx with 2.2GB of VRAM is supposedly in the PS4 Developer console.
This is a great GPU and if utilised properly games will look amazingly crisp and clear in 1080p and 3D. We know some people are going so to say 'not possible' but the PS4 is a closed system allowing every drop of performance to be squeezed from it and allowing for the code to be more efficient since it is made for 1 specific system and not a myriad of different combinations of hardware as seen in the PC gaming world. This GPU is more than capable for a closed system.

Thirdly the main PS4 system RAM.

PS4 RAM Update: February 20th, 2013
Looks like our predictions weren't too far off. According to Sony's announcement today - we are getting 8Gb of Unified GDDR5 RAM.

For comparison the PS3 has 256Mb of XDR RAM clocked at an amazing 3.2GHz (Super fast!!!!! :o).

The Developer console also contains 8Gb of system RAM so it looks like a match. A unified memory architecture is probably the best choice for next generation consoles. It gives developers the most flexibility to use the RAM exactly how they want. Code will be much more efficient, so the need for installs would be non-existent.

PS4 RAM Update: November 8th, 2012
New development kits have been outfitting the PS4 with anywhere from 8 to 16GB of RAM. While it was already rumored that the PS4 would ship with RAM that could achieve close to to the speed 8GB of RAM provides, shipping with 16GB of RAM would not only put the PS4 at the same level as a top-end gaming PC but it would also future-proof the system. One of the weaknesses of any console in the current generation is the lack of RAM in each one; 16GB would ensure this would never be a problem on the PS4.

Blu-ray or HVD?
Many people have been saying that the next logical step for Sony is to ditch blu-ray and go with HVD. HVD drives are just too expensive (a few thousand dollars) and too big with each HVD disk costing about $120. So we can't see Sony trying to sell something like this for at least a few more years, especially in struggling economies.

Sony spent a lot of money on developing blu-ray, and many people are just beginning to upgrade to blu-ray, so why would they ditch it? Its wasteful and the fact that not a single developer has created a game that uses a full 50gb dual layer blu-ray disc yet makes the extra space useless. And with a 100gb quad layer disc in development who needs HVD anyway?

Anyway to use the 100Gb disc you'll need a better blu-ray drive with faster reading speeds. The PS3 has a 2x blu-ray disc, 4x is the minimum to read a 100Gb disc. However the average read speed nowadays is 8x and it is relatively cheap, so we expect the PS4 to have at least a 8x drive which reads at 36MB/s, so games should load much faster.

PS4 Blu-ray Update: November 8th, 2012
Updated development kits have featured a Blu-ray drive, as expected. As Blu-ray is Sony's own technology and they have made great efforts to make it mainstream, replacing DVD technology, it only makes sense they would continue to use it in the PS4.

Hard drive or SSD? Looks like Sony is goin with the HDD, they may be slower but they allow us to store so much more information at a much lower price. No details yet on how large but I would expect the new HDD drives to match or double the sizes of today’s PS3s. We're not sure if Sony will change the SATA port to SATA 2 or 3 considering hard drives still don’t reach the SATA 1 limit of 150 Mb/s.

PlayStation 4 Hard Drive Update: November 8th, 2012
New development kits have shipped with a 160GB hard drive which seems small, but would help keep the cost of the system down and would most likely be easily upgradable by the user similar to the PlayStation 3. For the average user 160GB would be enough to last most, or even the entire, PS4 generation. With most game installs averaging 6GB this would leave plenty of room for a good amount of content.

Gaikai Cloud Effects - Advantages and Disadvantages If you don't know what Gaikai Cloud is we'll give you a quick update - it's a gaming service that allows you to play powerful games and use applications from their servers on just about any device, weak or powerful, that has a high-speed internet connection and the required client-side applets; and Sony just paid $380 million for them! It takes the games and streams them through a browser where the user can play on just about any device.

The Advantages: You don't need to have powerful, expensive hardware to play high-quality games with amazing graphics and sound because the Cloud servers do all that for you. You can play the game on an old underpowered PC or even a small tablet or smart phone. This would make it cheaper to play any game you want on old, mediocre hardware you already own without the loss of any visual quality. With Sony Computer Entertainment backing Gaikai, things could get really interesting in cloud gaming.

The Disadvantages: Because cloud servers are doing all the work they need to stream that information to you, which requires a high-speed internet connection (at least 3-5Mbps or better). If your internet connection slows down or hickups this can quickly turn those beautiful streaming graphics into ugly, broken artwork. You'll also need client-side applets, like Java, to run those games in a browser (this could create problems for Apple OS X users that no longer get Java through software updates). Gaikai is big but Sony bought the silver medal when it probably should have tried to buy the gold, OnLive - the older and larger competitor in cloud gaming that is already in Sony devices! Cloud gaming as a whole is still pretty young and while it works pretty well it still has issues. We know a lot of gamers who just want to play a 1-player campaign-based game without having to hastle with any online connections. Cloud gaming, if required to purchase and own games, could seriously hurt the smoother running hardcopy game market and even force out any chance of purchasing used games for the PS4.

Sum It All Up (Gaikai): The reason cloud service providers, like Gaikai and OnLive, started with games was because it is probably the largest technically challenging area for their services. We admit that there is a lot of promise here but we don't think it's a good idea to sacrifice one gaming type (a more static, simplistic download or disk) for another (a more dynamic, streaming style that always requires the internet). Now putting these styles together would be great - let a person download or buy the game/serial number at a store then use Gaikai to stream add-ons and additional content to every game we buy without having to update or download anything. This would allow us all to play the basic game without the internet but also allows us to stream the game and add-ons to any of our internet-capable devices whenever we want. But if Sony goes a different direction that forces us to have Gaikai, a fast internet connection, and the required applets in order to purchase and play select games, then we must say - "come on Sony, forcing things on users is MicroSoft's style."

Lastly PS4 USB connections 2 to 4 USB 3.0 connections are to be expected. Anyone who has ever done a full back-up of your PS3 would be grateful for USB 3 connections as backing up 100Gbs of install data, applications and save data can take about 8 hours, with USB 3 this should be halved.

PS4 Features

PS4 HDMI & Wi-Fi Update: November 8th, 2012 As one would expect, the PS4 is also expected to have HDMI slots, an Ethernet port and built-in Wi-Fi exactly like the PlayStation 3.

Redesigned XrossMediaBar

The PlayStation 4 will include the same UI as the PS3, dubbed the XrossMediaBar, but with major improvements to its navigation and overall feel. Unlike the PS3, the rumored XMB for PS4 will allow you to access any menu no matter what you are doing. One example given was pausing a game and navigating to the PlayStation Store and purchasing DLC, all without having to exit the game. Cross-game chat is expected as well along with being able to download system and game updates in the background, similar to downloading an item from the PlayStation Store.

Well its been confirmed that Sony will not be ditching the blu-ray drive but a more strict second hand system is rumoured which means that buying games second hand will be a huge put off all together and won’t be worth it at all.

It seems that sony are being their usual selves and future proofing todays technology with support for 4k resolutions which is double that of 1080p. Seems good but we wonder how many games will support that if any?
Well that’s the round up over. So what do you think of these specs? Good, bad, ugly? Ha! Certainly not but of course there will always be those who loved the Cell B.E, me included. It’ll be hard to let go of such a wonderful creation.

A recent article from Kotaku has begun a heavy debate on the internet, relating to the processor choice of the next Playstation console. The current processor in the Playstation 3 uses the Cell architecture originally designed by Playstation creator Ken Kutaragi. He originally planned that several household technologies could use this Cell technology to compliment the Playstation, thus increasing its computational power. Sadly, his vision seems to have come to an end as industry experts are reporting that Sony will ditch the current Nvidia design, for the more favored AMD. Although this is currently just speculation, in an interview last year, critically acclaimed programmer John Carmack said that an AMD Fusion-style chip was almost inevitable for the next generation of consoles.

This is a double-edged sword for Playstation fans. If the rumors are true, developers could already be developing titles for the Playstation 4 using currently available AMD technology. The downside, it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make current Playstation 3 games or PSN titles, compatible with the Playstation 4. So what are your thoughts? Big picture

For a rivalry that has produced plenty of gripping cricket over the past decade or so, the run-up to this series has been strangely muted. The Indian captain hasn't spoken to the press even once before the series, there have been no major controversies in the warm-up matches, there hasn't been too much of the pre-series mind games, and even the broadcasters' TV campaign has changed from the taunting tone it had before the England series to a more sober, cricket-centric one.

Both India and Australia are going through a generational change in the batting, but when it comes to the bowling, the Chennai Test could feature two of the most contrasting line-ups in any match. 

India Vs Australia

Though the surface at the Chidambaram Stadium is expected to have plenty of turn, Australia are going in with only one specialist spinner in Nathan Lyon, and with three fast bowlers and medium-pace bowling allrounder Moises Henriques. India, on the other hand, are almost certain to start with only one quick bowler in Ishant Sharma, and play three, or even four, spinners. Unexpectedly, India announced a day ahead of the Test that Harbhajan Singh, Australia's nemesis on so many occasions, will be in the XI for what will be his 100th Test.

The series also presents a huge challenge for both captains.In Chennai Michael Clarke, without the reassuring presence of Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey, will be leading a XI of which only three players have played a Test in India. The other eight all have 20 Test caps or less. For MS Dhoni, whose stocks have steadily declined since the high of the 2011 World Cup, another high-profile home series defeat could trigger the end of his Test captaincy.

When these two teams faced off in a Test series last year, the consensus in India was that the tour offered the best chance to beat Australia in Australia. It ended with India losing all four Tests, some of them in an abjectly one-sided manner. This will be a much closer contest - India have been flaky in Tests over the past couple of years but still have a formidable home record, while a re-building Australia briefly flirted with a return to the No. 1 spot but have traditionally found the going difficult in India.

Watch out for...

A spate of injuries to India's quick bowlers has thrust Ishant Sharma into the role of pace spearhead. The only other fast bowlers in the squad are Ashok Dinda and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, neither of whom have made their Test debuts. Indian cricket has given Ishant a long rope, but nearly 50 Tests into his career, his bowling average is a disappointing 38. Television ads building up to this series are still replaying his famous spell to Ricky Ponting from five years ago. Over the next month, Ishant needs to deliver on the promise that heady performance showcased.

Shane Watson is another player who is in a more senior role than he would have expected. The departure of Ponting and Hussey means that he is the only batsman besides Clarke who has played Tests in India. In addition to his responsibilities as an experienced member of the side, Watson will also have to adjust to playing as a specialist No. 4 batsman in this series. He has spent much of his Test career as an opener who also bowled medium-pace, and his decision to not bowl in this series will have critics pointing to his lack of centuries and questioning whether he is good enough to be in the side as a pure batsman.

India's two major decisions are over who will partner Virender Sehwag at the top of the order, and the identity of the No. 6 batsman. M Vijay is the front-runner for the opening slot, ahead of Shikhar Dhawan, while the No. 6 position is likely to be a toss-up between Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja.

Pitch and conditions

For a city that is one of the major cricketing centres in the country, and one that is reputed to have a Test-appreciating crowd, it is a bit surprising that Chennai hasn't hosted a Test match since the famous chase of 387 against England in December 2008. The Chepauk pitch is completely devoid of grass and is expected to be spinner-friendly. Temperatures are expected to be around 30 degrees and no rain is predicted over the next week.

At least 15 people are feared killed and over 60 injured, some of them critically, in three serial explosions near a busy bus stop and two cinema theatres at Dilsukh Nagar in Hyderabad on Thursday evening.

Union Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde has confirmed that 10 people have been killed in the Hyderabad blasts.

Serial Blasts in Hyderabad

Local reports said the five blasts all happened at Dilsukh Nagar area, which is a crowded locality in Hyderabad. The NIA though pegged the number to have rocked Andhra Pradesh's capital at three and a team of the NIA will reach Hyderabad along with a NSG team late tonight and commence investigation. Hyderabad police said at least two blasts have taken place.

Police have confirmed that these blasts that ripped through the crowded area in Hyderabad are an act of terror attack.

However, there is no clarity yet on who engineered these well-coordinated and pre-planned explosions.

Serial Blasts Hyderabad

Authorities have also expressed the fear that the death toll is likely to increase.

The injured, meanwhile, have been rushed to Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet and to the government-run Osmania Hospital, and police have cordoned off the entire area.

Eye witnesses said they heard two loud explosions within a couple of minutes. Police suspect one of the bombs may have been kept in a motorcycle and the other in a tiffin box.

The first blast occurred around 7 p.m. near a tiffin centre opposite Venkatadri theatre and the second near Konark theatre. Both the theatres are about 500 meters from each other.

All the major cities in the country have been put on high alert.

Senior police officials and ministers have rushed to the spot.

Blasts in Hyderabad

Some reports also say that an unexploded bomb too was found by the cops, although this has not been confirmed yet.

Police sources said that the bombs were placed at heavily crowded areas to cause maximum damage.

Earlier reports had said that these were gas cylinder blasts, but that has been ruled out.

YSR Congress party, in a statement, expressed shock and deep anguish over the bomb blasts. "YSRCP president Smt Vijayamma expressed shock and deep anguish over the bomb blasts in Diluskh Nagar. She mourned the death of innocent people who died in the explosion and conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the families of the blast victims," said the statement.

Authorities had feared terror attacks in the country in the aftermath of the Afzal Guru hanging.

The blasts occurred near two theatres in Dilsukhnagar, a busy commercial area in the southern part of city, about 15 km from the heart of the city.

Two explosions took place opposite a movie theatre atDilsukhnagar bus station inHyderabad on Thursday.

The first blast occurred around 7 pm near a tiffin centre opposite Venkatadri theatre and the second near Konark theatre. Both the theatres are about 500 meters from each other.

The injured were shifted to Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet and to the government-run Osmania Hospital.

Gory pictures of victims were seen. Others who were bleeding and injured were shifted to ambulances. There was a stampede-like situation with people trying to run for safety after the explosions.

The Andhra Pradesh police have said that 10 people have been killed and 50 people are injured. The casualties are set to rise.

Police are yet to ascertain nature of the explosions. They are checking if it was a gas cylinder blast or a bomb blast. The area has been cordoned off.

Eye witnesses said they heard two loud explosions. The cause of the explosions was not immediately known. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ambulances and police vehicles have been rushed to the area. Andhra Pradesh put on high alert.

Sources say a NSG team will visit blast-hit Hyderabad.

Police said the bombs may have been placed in a cycle.

Union Home Secretary RK Singh said the NSG team is leaving by a BSF aircraft. A team of NIA hub stationed in Hyderabad has also rushed to the spot.

The previous major attack in Hyderabad was on August 25, 2007 when two blasts took place almost simultaneously.

The first blast was reported at a park and it was followed by another in a eating joint in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister N Kiran Reddy rushed to the blast site.

"We have been in touch with state government officials," RK Singh, the top bureaucrat in the federal interior ministry, told reporters in New Delhi."Ten people were killed and 50 injured."

The explosions come less than two weeks after India hanged a Kashmiri man for a militant attack on the country's parliament in 2001 that had sparked violent clashes.

TV showed debris and body parts strewn on the street in the Dilsukhnagar area of Hyderabad, a crowded neighbourhood of cinema halls, shops, restaurants and a fruit and vegetable market.

In July 2011, three near-simultaneous blasts ripped through India's financial capital, Mumbai. At least 20 people were killed and over 100 wounded in the blasts set off by Muslim militants, authorities said.

Last year, four small explosions occurred in quick succession in a busy shopping area of of Pune.
