Justin Bieber - About Him:
Justin Drew Bieber is a Canadian
singer-songwriter, musician, producer, entrepreneur, investor, and actor. Bieber
was discovered in 2008 by American talent
manager Scooter Braun, who
came across Bieber's videos on YouTube and
later became his manager. Braun arranged for him to meet with entertainer Usher Raymond in Atlanta,
Georgia, and Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), and
then to an Island Records recording contract offered
by record executive L.A. Reid.

His debut extended play,
the seven-track My World, was released in November 2009, and
was soon certified platinum in the United States.
He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record to chart on
the Billboard Hot 100. Bieber's first
full-length studio album, My World 2.0,
was released in March 2010. It debuted at or near number-one in several
countries and was certified platinum in the United States. It was preceded by
the worldwide top-ten single, "Baby". He followed up the release of
his debut album with his first headlining tour, the My World Tour,
the remix albums My Worlds Acoustic and Never Say Never. The Remixes, and the 3D
biopic-concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,
which nearly tied the record for the biggest opening-weekend gross for a
concert-film. Bieber released his second studio album, Under the Mistletoe, in November 2011, when it
debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200.
Bieber released his third studio album, Believe, in June 2012, it became his
fourth chart topper in the United States, debuting at number-one on the Billboard 200.
Intent on developing a more mature sound, the album is regarded as a musical
departure from his previous teen pop sound.
Bieber has received numerous awards,
including Artist of the Year at the 2010 American Music Awards, and was
nominated for such accolades as Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album at
the 53rd Grammy Awards. With a global fan base,
termed as "Beliebers",
and over 27 million followers on Twitter,
he was named by Forbes Magazine in 2012 as the third most
powerful celebrity in the world. He had earned an estimated US$55 million in the previous 12 months.
As of May 2012, Bieber has sold 15 million albums. Justin Bieber along
with Taylor Swift won top honours at the Teen
Choice Awards on July 22, 2012. He has a net worth of US$108 million as of August 2012.
Personal Views & Life:
Bieber is a Christian, and said he has
a relationship with Jesus, talks to him and that "he's the reason I'm
here".
Bieber's comments in a February 2011
profile in Rolling Stone sparked controversy. Asked
about abstinence,
Bieber responded, "I don't think you should have sex with anyone unless
you love them." He said he does not "believe in abortion" and
that it is "like killing a baby". He described sexual
orientation as "everyone's own decision." Bieber has contributed to
the It Gets Better Project, which aims to
prevent suicide among LGBT youth.
Bieber has said he is not interested
in obtaining United States citizenship and has
criticized America's health care system. Praising Canada as being "the
best country in the world", he cited its health care system as a model
example. On February 27, 2011, Bieber attended the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar
Party with American actress and singer Selena Gomez, confirming
several months of media speculation about a romantic relationship between the
pair.
In May 2012, Bieber purchased a 10,000
square-foot mansion on 1.3 acres of land, located in the community of Calabasas, California,
a suburb of Los Angeles.
Bieber's philanthropic activities have
included visiting children's hospitals. In June 2012, the "Music Makes It
Better" campaign was released, featuring PSAs by Bieber, Victoria
Justice, and The Band
Perry. The campaign aims to bring music, arts, and other programs to
children while they're in the hospital.
JB On Twitter:
As of April 2012, Bieber's Twitter
account (@justinbieber) is the second most popular celebrity account behind
that of Lady Gaga. By
mid-April 2012, he had over 20 million followers. His follower acquisition
is one new follower every other second. His popularity on Twitter at one
point accounted for three percent of all Twitter related traffic, with a
Twitter employee commenting that "racks of servers are dedicated" to
Bieber. This resulted in over 180 million page views for the service each
month. Bieber was frequently a trending topic on Twitter when the feature first
launched because his fans frequently discussed him on the network. and
was named the top trending star on Twitter in 2010;Klout gave his
account a score of 100.
Justin Bieber on Twitter |
The size of Bieber's and Gaga's
follower bases are cited as a reason why marketers should pay attention to
Twitter: with an ability to reach millions of people with a single tweet. 8.3%
of tweets mentioning "bieber" were semi-automated and probably
Twitter related spam. Research done about Twitter and the 2011 Egyptian revolution includes Bieber
as he made tweets about the topic at a time when he had roughly 8 million
followers. His multiple tweets resulted in 32,000 responses each, which made
Bieber's Twitter account one of the single largest nodes for discussion about
the uprising on Twitter.

Review: Justin Bieber hard to
'Believe' at Staples Center
Mistakes: They're what kids even the
famous ones do.
When Justin Bieber rolled into Staples Center Tuesday night for the first
of two shows, the Internet was still buzzing with video of his performance at
Glendale, Ariz. For those who missed it, the teen idol got sick after a
pre-show meal of spaghetti Bolognese washed down with whole milk.
The unplanned spectacle, endlessly
replayed on YouTube, provided a valuable peek behind the teen-pop curtain,
and reminded us in vivid detail that Bieber isn't just a global brand with a
vast multimedia dominion. He's also an 18-year-old boy.

Justin Bieber at Staples Center
By Tuesday’s sold-out concert, the
first of two at Staples, the curtain had been dutifully redrawn. Briskly paced
and intricately choreographed, this high-tech pop production (with a mixture of
live and prerecorded singing) emphasized the idea of Bieber over the real-life
person; it merely reinforced established baseline notions: Cute face! Great
hair! Nice voice!
Bieber’s grand entrance seemed to
promise an expansion of those themes. Following an introductory video in which
he appeared to fly around the arena, the singer descended from above the stage
attached to a pair of enormous steampunk-style wings. Then he and his
eight-piece band launched into “All Around the World,” the throbbing opener
from this year’s excellent “Believe,” while a crew of dancers raced through the
crowd hoisting flags from various countries, including Bieber’s native Canada.
The moment was weirdly exciting and
excitingly weird, like the product of a teenager’s comic-book imagination. He
kept it up during the lovely “Catching Feelings,” which at Staples became the
basis for a bizarre outer-space mermaid situation.
Unfortunately
times pop meltdowns
From there, though, Tuesday’s
90-minute show quickly flattened out, papering over Bieber’s idiosyncrasies
with hand-me-down set pieces such as the 1990s-era drill-team routine in “One
Time” and the Motown-inspired shuffling that accompanied “Die in Your Arms.”
Guest appearances by Jaden Smith and Carly Rae Jepsen (the
latter of whom opened the concert) provided brief upticks in energy; they
allowed Bieber the opportunity to interact with another human in real time. But
neither left behind a lasting effect.
What made Bieber’s cipher-like
presence especially disappointing is how effectively he communicates via other
channels: his songs, of course, but also his Twitter feed and his YouTube clips
and the photographs taken by the kind of paparazzi he battled Tuesday in a
video during “She Don’t Like the Lights.”
Celebrities by the Times
In these and other venues Bieber
projects a specifically lifelike persona: When Lizzie Widdicombe reported in
the New Yorker recently that Bieber displayed some poor sportsmanship in a game
of greenroom crotch-jab, the reader might’ve thought, Yeah, I can totally see
that.
He’s fully a 21st century creation —
perhaps the pop idol most attuned to the age of social media — but onstage
Bieber revealed only incidental glimpses of the kid within, as when he adjusted
his skin-tight trousers following an acrobatic move or flashed an
I-can’t-help-it grin at the sound of fans cheering his exposed abdomen. Last
weekend’s vomiting incident served a similar function — however unpleasantly —
at his Arizona show.
Bieber brought up his gastrointestinal
troubles at Staples after a ho-hum acoustic medley he delivered atop a giant
crane. He was telling the audience how he doesn’t like doing interviews or
photo shoots — that what he really cares about is performing for his fans.
“I’m not up here sick,” he said. “I’m
good!”
Then he did “Beauty and a Beat,” a
highlight from “Believe” about losing oneself in the music; Bieber actualized
the concept by sitting down behind a drum set and bashing out a hectic solo. At
the end of the song he kicked over the drums, explaining with a spray of
little-boy petulance, “Sometimes I just want to be a rock star.”
Rihanna And
Justin Bieber Performing At Victoria's Secret Fashion Show:
Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Kanye West and
Maroon 5 were on hand last year to provide Victoria's Secret models with music
to strut down the runway, and this year Justin Bieber, Rihannaand Bruno Mars are taking
over for the annual fashion show.
Victoria's Secret announced the trio
of performers on their Facebook page on Tuesday (October 2). The show is
scheduled to air on Tuesday, December 4 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. It will tape in
New York City. It marks the first time any of the performers have played the
show. Last year, it included eye-popping appearances from Nicki Minaj,
Maroon 5 andWatch the Throne partners-in-crime, Jay-Z and Kanye
West.
The 2012 performance comes at a very
busy time for all three artists set to rock the runway. Rihanna has just
released her latest single, "Diamonds," and
it is rumored that her next album, allegedly called 7 Wonders,
may get a November release date.
Bieber will be in New York City around
that time to play the Big Apple on his Believe tour. He kicked the
jaunt off this past weekend and made headlines for getting sick
on stage. Additionally, he also has the music video for "Beauty
and The Beat" (which he filmed with Minaj last month) in the can.
Meanwhile, Bruno just released his
single, "Locked Out of Heaven." The song serves as the lead track off
his December 11 album release, Unorthodox
Jukebox. He will perform the song live for the first time when he
pulls double duty on "Saturday Night Live" on October 20, where he
will serve as the night's musical guest and host.
Justin Bieber fan site allegedly
violated children's online privacy:
The company that makes official fan websites for tween favourites such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Rihanna has agreed to pay $US1 million to settle charges that it illegally collected data about more than 100,000 children.
The company that makes official fan websites for tween favourites such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Rihanna has agreed to pay $US1 million to settle charges that it illegally collected data about more than 100,000 children.
The Federal Trade Commission
(FTC), in a complaint filed in a New York district court on Tuesday, had
accused Artist Arena of failing to get parental consent before collecting
data such as the names and email addresses of children.
FTC spokeswoman Claudia Bourne
Farrell said the company agreed to settle for $US1 million. The
settlement must be approved by a judge, she added.
The company maintained the websites
RihannaNow.com, DemiLovatoFanClub.net, BieberFever.com and SelenaGomez.com, and
improperly collected data from an estimated 101,000 children aged 12 and under,
according to the FTC complaint.
Under the Children's Online Privacy
Protection Act, websites are required to give special treatment to children
aged 12 or younger. Sites must get parental permission before collecting
information about the children.
The FTC is in the process of updating
the rules to further restrict companies and Web sites that target youths or are
geare.
Justin Bieber Throws Up Onstage: 7
Other Stars Who've Puked During Concerts:
Justin Bieber might have been totally
embarrassed when he puked during the first show of his "Believe"
tour in Arizona on Saturday, September 29, but he's not the only superstar
who's gotten sick while performing onstage.
Actually, a handful of big singers
have thrown up during their concerts, whether it's in front of
a live audience, backstage or right before the show. That's right, stars like
Rihanna, Kings of Leon's Caleb Followill, Adele and even Lady Gaga have tossed
their cookies while thousands of screaming fans looked on. (Now that can't be
fun).
So Bieber, no worries! Lots of people barf onstage -- at least
you were man enough to keep singing. The show must go on ...
Spare a thought for poor ol' Justin Bieber:
It can’t be easy being Justin Bieber.
Oh, sure, the teen-pop superstar has an estimated net worth of US$108 million,
he’s shagging Selena Gomez, and he drives that cool all-chrome car. But just as
every silver lining has a cloud, even Bieber’s seemingly charmed life has its
drawbacks. Let’s face it: Selena Gomez is the poor man’s Vanessa Hudgens, and
even Vanessa Hudgens isn’t all that hot. Also, despite its price tag, the
Fisker Karma is mostly known for being a rolling hunk of shit with an unfortunate
tendency to burst into flames at inopportune times. (I tried, but I couldn’t
find any downside to having US$108 million.).
Even the Biebz’s status as the king of
YouTube isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. His video for “Baby” is the site’s
most-viewed video of all time, currently sitting at over 784 million views. On
the other hand, it has also racked up almost 3 million clicks on the “dislike”
button, compared with 1.3 million “likes”. You don’t have to be Chad Hurley to
figure out that millions of those views have come courtesy of haters who want
to give “Baby” the thumbs down and leave cogent, well-reasoned comments like
“Eminem is king of rap. Justin Bieber is the queen of crap!!” and “who thinks
he is the one fag Joinha ae kkkkkk”.
It was on YouTube, of course, that the
kid from Stratford, Ontario, got his start, thanks to videos uploaded by his
mom. Biebz is the first YouTube celebrity who has managed to parlay viral-video
stardom into major-league global success. Those dudes who ran a dry-humping
gang-bang train on a defenceless ottoman to the strains of Pretty Ricky’s “Late
Night Special” didn’t do it. The “Chocolate Rain” guy couldn’t do it, no matter
how many times he moved away from the mike to breathe in. And Star Wars Kid
certainly didn’t, primarily due to his utter lack of any discernible talent.
Bieber also kicked open the floodgates
for everyone who thinks the world desperately needs to experience how they
would have sung that Ke$ha song from last night’s episode of Glee. News
flash: unless your name is First Aid Kit, no one wants to hear you warble your
way through some cover tune—especially if it happens to be called “Somebody
That I Used to Know”. Or “Baby”.
The haters have plenty of other
reasons to take a swing at Bieber not the least of which is his own (alleged!)
willingness to take swings of his own at the paparazzi. And James Franco, too,
if the National Enquirer is to be believed. According to that
newspaper of record, JB has threatened to hit Franco with so many rights he’ll
be begging for a left, all because the 127 Hours star has been seen
getting a little too friendly with Gomez. Mind you, the Enquirer would
also have us believe that Bieber plans to bottle his own sweat to sell at a
charity auction. On the off chance this is true, Justin, here’s a tip: you’ll
fill that bottle a lot faster if you use urine instead. Just sayin’.
And then there’s Bieber’s unfortunate
tendency to open his mouth for reasons other than to sing or shovel in
spoonfuls of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries. Like talking to journalists, which
you know is never going to end well. As he revealed to Rolling Stone last year,
his stance on pregnancies that result from sexual assault rivals that of U.S.
Rep. Todd “Legitimate Rape” Akin. “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but
everything happens for a reason,” said Bieber, who was either paraphrasing John
Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion or making shit up off
of the top of his head.
But let’s not judge the guy too
harshly. No one ever asked Elvis where he stood on Jim Crow laws, nuclear
proliferation, or the Caramilk secret, nor should we expect Bieber to have
nuanced positions on the issues of the day. He’s just an entertainer, and a
damned dedicated one at that. Despite painting the stage twice with the contents
of his stomach during a September 29 concert in Glendale, Arizona, an ailing
Bieber finished the show. By the following night, a YouTube clip of the
performer taking a Technicolor yawn had been watched almost 500,000 times. You
have to give him props for soldiering on, and maybe even have a little sympathy
for the guy.
When’s the last time the entire
Internet watched while you spewed the remains of your dinner? It’s not easy
being Justin Bieber, I tell you.
